We invite you to visit one of the ancient cloisters of the city of Moscow. The Donskoy Monastery was founded by Tsar Theodore Ioannovich in 1591-1593 in honor of the Don Icon of the Mother of God in gratitude for the deliverance of Moscow from the invasion of the Crimean Khan Kazy Girey. The monastery arose on the spot where there was a camp of Russian soldiers preparing to engage in battle with the Tatar hordes. Today in the monastery are the miraculous Don Icon of the Mother of God, the relics of St. Tikhon, the Patriarch of All Russia.
The program of our excursion includes the history of the Donskoy Monastery, a visit to the architectural ensemble of the monastery, a visit to the Big Donskoy Cathedral, an overview of the main burials of the Necropolis of the Donskoy Monastery, as well as miraculously preserved high reliefs of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1931.
